Marionette;

Contributed by Darcdoll on Sunday, 1st August 2010 @ 06:39:41 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

“Marissa. Why?” Alice’s dark obsidian eyes bled with terror as she scrambled away from the child-like marionette.

“Why? Why? You. I was all you. Johnny was fine until you cam along. He locks us away. You keep him from his children. We are not a collection, we are him. We make Johnny whole. Why do you think he was hesitant to be with you? You deserve what you get. There’s only room for one of us in Johnny’s life and I’m that one.” Her gentle green eyes were filled with crystallized hate. Marissa was a chucky doll, only cuter and less of a threat when you first looked at her. But her soul was swirling black hate, her mind fragmented between kindness and a deep need to kill.

“Oh Marissa,” Alice sobbed in fear. “I never meant to take Johnny from you. I love him and I know you do too—.”

“Silence! I don’t want to hear excuses. Johnny is mine and mine alone. He’s too good for you,” with a small cry and a scream, Marissa brought the cold steel down into Alice’s breast, piercing deep into the kind beating heart.

“You’re heartless Marissa,” Alice choked, a small stream of dark crimson blood oozing from her mouth and around the blade.

The obsidian eyes glazed before dulling as Alice let out a final small sigh. Marissa’s eyes brightened and tears grew, “Alice!” the small marionette screamed, shaking the lifeless body before her, “Oh Alice, I’m so sorry,” what was wrong with her? She’d been so kind. Why had she killed Alice? She’d loved Alice. Alice was Marissa’s big sister; her best friend and she had killed her.

“Oh Johnny. What have I done?” with a sad scream Marissa laid on Alice, crying until her eyes were dry of tears. Alice was dead, and Marissa’s small heart was broken.

“MARISSA!” the marionette jerked awake. Her eyelids heavy as she sat up slowly and looked down at the lifeless body of her beloved best friend and big sister. Turning around, Marissa stared up at a horrified Johnny. His hand was clapped over his mouth and tears glistened in his eyes.

“Johnny… I… I don’t know why I did it. Something’s wrong with me Johnny,” Marissa looked down at her blood stained hands, her eyes wide in sadness as she looked up at Johnny. Tears were rolling down his cheeks, leaving streaks through the dirt and grime on his face from work.

“What have you done?” his voice shook as he rushed to the bed, lifting the marionette by her shoulders and shaking her, “what did you do? You demon!” turning, Johnny threw Marissa. She landed in a heap on the floor just outside the door to Johnny’s room.

Brushing a small strand of hair from her face, Marissa stared up at Johnny, tears growing in her eyes, “I don’t know Johnny. I really don’t know,” she didn’t dare move as Johnny moved across the room to hover over her small body, his eyes dark with hate as he glared down at her.

“I hate you. You killed my Alice. You’re nothing but a demon.” Kneeling down, Johnny pulled Marissa close to his face, glaring into her emerald green eyes, “I never should have made you. I want you out of my house tomorrow. You are no longer a part of this family,” shoving her hard onto the ground, Johnny turned and strode back into his room, slamming the door and making Marissa wince as tears rolled down her cheeks.

Don’t worry Marissa. We’ll make him pay my darling. We’ll make him pay. Marissa sobbed loudly and walked to a secluded corner, her arms hugging her legs tightly as she cried into her knees. As her sobs dried and her sadness faded, a deep anger began to surface, making her blood boil and turning her emerald green eyes to a dark forest green the glowed with anger as she stood and walked to the kitchen, ignoring the other marionettes as they tried to stop her.

Pulling open a kitchen drawer, Marissa stood on tiptoes and pushed through the knives pulling out a six-inch stainless steel blade with a mahogany handle that fit perfectly in her hand. A malicious smile crossed the young marionettes face. Now all she had to do was wait.

Glancing up at the wall clock, the hands sat at twelve seventeen, the second hand giving a small tick, tick as it made its way around the face of the clock. Johnny had to be asleep now. Walking over to Johnny’s bedroom, Marissa turned and glared at the other marionettes as the sat on the worktable, their many eyes wide as they watched her with fear and sadness, not daring to stop the marionette because they knew it would be useless to fight her.

Twisting the doorknob, Marissa pushed the door open with the tip of the blade. It swung open silently revealing Johnny holding the dead Alice in his arms as he slept. Quiet snores came from him and the mattress squeaked as he rolled onto his back, his arm tucked under Alice’s dead weight.

“You’re mine Johnny. It had to be done,” walking across the floor to the bed, Marissa crawled onto the bed, walking up between Alice and Johnny, setting her small body on Johnny’s stomach.

Marissa brushed a strand of dark brown hair from Johnny’s forehead, her eyes staring down at him, love and hatred swirling through the dark green depths. She set the tip of blade to Johnny’s chest, poising the cool steel blade above his heart. If her heart was broken and bleeding, his would be too.

A song crept into Marissa’s mind, the words coming from her lips as she smiled down at her beloved Johnny, “Miss Mary Mack mack mack, all dressed in black black black, she has a knife knife knife, stuck in her back back back. She cannot breathe breathe breathe, she cannot cry cry cry, that’s why she begs begs begs. She begs to die die DIE!” the last word was a scream.

Johnny’s eyes shot open, a startled cry coming from him, as the silver steel glistened, hungry to devour flesh, tissue and muscle, “Marissa NO!” it was too late though. The blade slid into Johnny’s flesh with ease, a choke coming from him as the blade slid to the handle.

“You’ll never break my heart again Johnny,” she kissed his cheek lightly, his chocolate brown eyes going dull as he stared stupidly at the marionette, his life fading from him rapidly.

Slipping off Johnny’s chest, Marissa smiled and strode from the room. Opening the front door, she stepped out into the cool October air. Humming happily to herself, Marissa skipped down the road, her forest green eyes permanently changed as she planned to find another family to be her helpless victims. Her blue-black curls bounced around her head as she made her way to the doll shop a few blocks from Johnny’s house. She’d start out there and make her way from family to family.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
