I know you smashed your skull open
but I wanna feel the pain myself.
I,
so empty of fear,
so unconquered by duty,
so unripe,
and alive
The drums in the distance warn me
of the approaching cliff,
i’ll fall fast,
i’ll land hard…
A bird in a field of mice,
a coke in a water cistern,
a leaf of grass
growing in the concrete crevice
The drums in the distance warn me,
of the approaching cliff,
i’ll grow too big,
I won’t fit back in…
don’t tell me to stop acting,
if you want to take off this costume
you’ll have to rip off my skin
and dissect my brain, heart and sex
The drums in the distance warn me,
of the approaching cliff,
i’ll make frowns
i’ll make violence
No I won’t take a parachute,
I will not be slowed down,
my soul won’t shout freedom,
while my body is to caged
The drums in the distance warn me,
of the approaching cliff,
I think you’re scared i’ll land on your corpse
and live forever
I know you smashed your skull open
but hey, my brain needs some air too…
