Pre-Dawn Redemption.

Contributed by cashfan1 on Saturday, 31st July 2010 @ 04:37:58 AM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

There is something comfortable and cool
About the hours of pre-dawn.
These hours are found in a no man's land
Between deep dark and bright day breaking.
The innocence of these hours offer redemption
And a peace I have never felt before.
The trees are droopy with sleep
And the mountains a mere outline charcoaled on my mind,
A shadow hinting at what lays beyond.
Badger, the nocturnal monarch, is busy in clearings,
The dog fox patrols the headland
And the jealous owl shakes the wood from dreaming slumber.
These hours are easy, delivering solitude to a weary mind,
The silence a deep fierce burning in my head.
And in these hours I am safe, safe from a world
That dangles dangerously on the end of a fuse
That at any time might ignite and explode in my face.
But for now, in the mind cooling secret comfort of pre-dawn,
I am at peace. Redemption is mine.
