Star Child
From the certainty of man comes the uncertainty of life
The birth of an acknowledgment comes festering with strife
Within the logic of perception lurks the spectrum of doubt
Yet the goal of it's reason is to be with and not without
Intertwined are the forces of faith and conviction
Contradicting are those that claim truth as bare fiction
In the realm of apathy there is no room for decision
For one does not need to be blind to so clearly lack vision
You are the key to my own realization
The reasoning behind my mind's creation
A glimpse in the lapse of a past date and time
A glance that transcends through matters sublime
Star Child, won't you tell me why I am here?
Won't you save me when the end draws it way near?
What would you do should man become exceedingly deft?
Would you seek synergy, or would you leave us bereft?
The all intellectual bore of pure thought and reason
Surely you are not man; surely you bear no treason
The search for the answers abrades the borders of sanity
Are you the evolution of man or the bane of humanity?

I think I may have enjoyed this more if I knew what the star child was. The poem's pretty good but I also think it would make a great essay. |
