MY BUCKET LIST

Topic: happypoetry

You might ask, "What is a Bucket List?"
It's things you want to do before you die,
it's your checklist.
I've lived a full, and accomplished life
Traveled extensively, experienced
motherhood, good wife.

Very few things left that I want
to do,
But, one sticks out from all the rest.......
I've always wanted to be another person,
can you guess who?
All my life I've dreamed about being a
"Flapper" with bright red lipstick!
A true life "Flapper" genuine,
in costume, and slapstick!

After WWI the girls began to rebel,
In the 1920's a new woman was born
to excel........
They showed disdain for conventional dress
and behavior,
She smoked, drank, danced, and voted,
wore bright red lipstick from the whorehouse,
and became known as
"The Flapper!"

She was giddy, and took risks,
was fun-loving and carefree.
Flappers had both an image and
an attitude, "Look at Me!"
Off with her hair.........
Off with the "Gut Clinchers" (corsets)
Off with the double sling shots (bras)
Shorter dresses, "Rebel, Flappers Rebel!"
no more laws!

I got to cross "The Flapper" off my
bucket list this month.
Magically, at my Olds Grads Reunion
June twenty seventh,
Bright red lipstick, flapper wig,
and several other items........
I danced, I swayed with much freedom
and knocked them all dead
with many rhythms........

Would you like to see me fulfill my
dream of being a flapper?
Click on the links below, and
take in the "Feather in the Hat Flapper"
with all her glamour!
Just highlite, copy, and paste
and enjoy the show...........

Created for all those Flappers
of long ago......

"So we came to the Ritz hotel and the Ritz Hotel was divine.
Because when a girl can sit in a delightful bar and have delicious champagne
cocktails and look at all the important French people in Paris,
I think it is divine."
~Gentlemen Prefer Blondes by Anita Loos~

I loved this piece of nostalgia, the Scott Joplin rag to boot. Very good.

Hi Connie,

Bring back the Flappers ..... that's what I say!!
All that 'Avant garde' and 'Art deco.' Though I can't
say I'm too keen on the men's trousers - likely
to do a Mary Poppins on a windy day.

Great imagery, great graphics and a great write!

Tommy
