She stood there looking
in wonder and awe
but the things that I’d seen
are not what she saw
She lived her life
like a knife
in a drawer.
Longing to be taken and used.
For safety or violence-
she didn’t care.
She’d rather feel something
then the nothing
that’s there.
And if someone could take her
then she’d no longer fear
The emptiness beneath her skin
Slightly removed from
the world where I live,
she passes by me like
grains in a sieve
We almost connected
but we never quiet did.
A girl disconnected from life.
In the past they would change her
or try to insist
that she must conform
and be part of their list
Like the scar on her wrist
where she was razor kissed.
She never quite blended in.
So she keeps living
in longing to be
a part of something
beyond you and me.
Living in a world we
never could see,
her jouissance of
bliss and agony.
Life propelled by the unseen.
