The Wall

Contributed by storeya on Saturday, 26th June 2010 @ 08:09:32 PM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

A massive, hulking, obstruction, blocks the Way.
He stands on the other side: you yell “Hey!”
To cross the massive, hulking, blockade
You gather an educated, well-mannered, charade
Of the world’s most talented and wisest minds
The geniuses and leaders of our time
To cross this wall, as impassable as a moat:
You bring bright philosophers, worldly scholars, teachers of note
But no matter how hard their brilliant minds try
You cannot gain passage to the other side.
your perseverance is tested, but you do not give in
You use your wealth to try and win
Building a complex structure of wood and alabaster stone
Using your monies; through resources you roam.
But your tenuous efforts yield no avail
Frustration is the new tone for this tale.
You yell out in anger and look to the sky
Blinded by rage: You start to cry
You slander the heavens with numerous curses
You easily forget the Holy Verses
“Why, Lord of lords, must You chastise me so?
All I wanted was to see Him and grow!
Am I not good enough for You?
Do I not sit down in that pew?”
The Lord calls down. His voice as thunder:
“CHILD, HOW IS IT THAT YOU CAN STILL WONDER?”
“IT IS YOUR PRIDE THAT KEEPS YOU AWAY
OUR RELATIONSHIP IS BAD AND SO IT SHALL STAY
YOU MUST AKNOWLEDGE THIS AND REPENT
AND UNDERSTAND WHY MY SON WAS SENT.”
“GO NOW AND PONDER YOUR ERRORED DECISIONS”
So then ceases the King’s heavenly emissions.
You stop your whining and look inside.
And in a new perspective, you see your pride.
You see how this pride is the wall.
Immeasurably large, immeasurably tall.
No strength or wisdom of man
Can even scratch the surface of this large span.
But you know the Answer and you know the Word.
And you know all that you’ve taught and learned.
The task to take down this wall is in fact tough.
But the Lord Christ Jesus has given you enough.
You let go of your selfish pride.
And you gaze upon the One who had died.
The wall crumbles down like Jericho’s curtain
You walk up to Jesus, one-hundred percent certain
He holds you tight, and all is right.
For you broke down the Pride Wall tonight.
