Sometimes
When I thought that you were the one to care,
I loved your eyes and I stoked your hair.
I gave you my heart, now beyond repair.
I miss you
Sometimes
When we planned and plotted that we’d dare
To escape from need and to fly elsewhere
But you hardened your heart, my dearest Claire.
I miss you
Sometimes
When the pain seems more than too much to bear
And you find that you just cannot be there
Then, as my mind slips slowly in despair,
I miss you
Sometimes
When my emotions are open, laid bare
When life is counted in pills on that square
When my grief overcomes that final pair
I miss you
Sometimes
When it seems there’s so little left to spare
And bleak future without you here to share
When my soul recites it’s dying prayer
I miss you
Sometimes
I wish there was no tomorrow
Then I could not miss you more
Than I do
Sometimes.

Great poem. You express a great deal of emotion here. Emotion leads to great poetry like the one you posted here. |
