America, I love
The valley of your breasts
At low tide
How your inlets shatter silver
Against the sunlight’s
Spoiled and broken
Hypodermic shore
How your stillborn skies
Still burn at the concrete boundaries
Of towering forests
America, I love
The sweep of your congested skylines
How your cities stretch
Black fields
Across honey-suckle blue
How your indefinable love
Still murmurs at the edge
Of primordial sands
Stained white with lies
And another mans dreams
