My brain's off-switch

Contributed by essential on Saturday, 12th June 2010 @ 02:15:22 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

Only the deafening force of alcohol
Erases questions from my mind
The cold drink on the rocks
Is nothing but my brain's off-switch
And when the last drop is gulped in
I leave the world behind
And what I cursed so brief before
Is what me keeps bewitched

Whether I just do it to forget the time
Or whether it's already addiction
I can not see the crossover
And even less why I should care
Why sould I live the real thing
When I prefer the fiction
When soberness captures me here
And this can get me anywhere

THIS POEM MAKES A LOT OF SENSE TO ME AS I FIND MYSELF SWITCHING OFF MORE AND MORE,
IM SURE IM GONNA SWITCH OFF FOR GOOD SOON
AND NOT BE ABLE TO SWITCH BACK ON....
I BETTER KEEP MY SELF IN THE STANDBY MODE WITH SOME INSTRUCTIONS TO SWITCH ME BACK ON CLOSE BY, ....TATTOOD ON MY HEAD,
COS I MIGHT NOT ACTUALLY BE DEAD

Certainly is thought provoking.
The way we find our own escape sometimes is hard to explain, we all have our own ways.

I can truly relate. I am not addicted, but I definitly use alcohol on my weekends to let myself go and not feel the full impact of life and it's pain
