I Walked In Another's Shoes

Contributed by Searcher on Tuesday, 15th April 2003 @ 06:25:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Holiday Poetry

I walked in another’s shoes
It wasn’t as I had planned
I searched for greener pasture
And found the soil just sand
I thought I’d walk a little further
And find a better pair of shoes
But as I walked this sandy soil
I found I had a lot to lose
The other's shoes I walked in
They soon filled with sand
And the soil that I had chosen
I found not so grand
Other shoes may be worn thin
Things not always as they seem
The water on the other side
May be just a murky stream
I have found!
The shoes I've always walked in
It seems they fit me fine
These planted on solid ground
And of such great design

"And found the soil just sand"

For some reason this calls out to me as the strongest line in the poem... A great work by the way! I like the way you keep a guise of lightheartedness throughout the piece but maintain a strong deep, dark theme throughout.

This line of the poem was an inspiration to me. It really says that no matter how bad it seems... on the other side it is going to be just as bad. This was very different but very good. It said a lot that many people are dying to say, but can't.
