Then Again You Only Take

Contributed by lostrelic on Thursday, 10th June 2010 @ 11:32:09 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I see your face, that mask of teeth that you hide to bare.
Looking for flesh to tear, to bring down the kill.
You paint the world in shades of red, you fill my mind with thoughts of dread, you kick me as the mornings spun.
You hate this world and its blinding sun.

The shepard has left the fence open, wanting you to see the wolves so you can come running back.
Showing the safety of the fold, showing the thoughts of the old.
Faded lines of lies, faded eyes so blind?
Process of change for you and me, images of riots to set us free.
God in us all, visions of walking as one.
Standing shoulder by shoulder, to await the naked sun.

You speak of institution, i see the chains that bind!
You speak of freedom as you hide behind the flag.
You speak of wars that's won, i see the dead in its wake.
You speak of free-dumb, but then again you only take!

Then again you only take.
