The Longing

In my chair beside the window where the light is thin,
I think of the all love that I can’t let in
because I’m bleeding like a stone but it’s not my fault.
Every time I get the courage to speak,
the words get caught.
So I’m living with my longing,
it’s all I’ve got.
I think of every place where we could have been.
Every line upon your face that I’ve never seen.
I fear if I touch you, you might disappear.
Like a dream before the waking,
you’re not quite there.
Another layer upon my longing.
Another whispered prayer.
Watching from my window to the street below
pleading with the angels for you to come or go.
Any sign of you can calm this pain.
But only demons answer
because they know my name.
They haunt me with my longing.
And to myself, I do the same.

Every line upon your face that I have never seen, can feel the longing and sadness in this, the relentless torture externally and internally from wanting something that will never be, well written |
