His Empty Threat

I hear and feel his breath
speaking words of death
burning deep within my chest
my eyes close and i forget the rest.
Morning and i open my eyes
I awake from a dream in which he dies
oh, what I would give to fall back to sleep
close my eyes again, I drift, deep.
Woken by a slap to the face
awaiting the Lords good grace
but never giving up on prayer
for I know God is always there.
One more shout his voice vibrates
I am blinded by his evil trates
He leaves me in a puddle, blood tears and sweat
but I’m still here, no result to his empty threat.

It's a sad poem. I despise domestic abuse. Any abuse, for that matter.
It's short, but I like it.
Well done,
I hope this isn't coming from a personal experience or anything of the sort,
love
