A love of 50 years will always be so true...
Doctors say she has Alzheimers', soon she won't even remember me...
Not a day goes by that I didn't say "I love you"...
I know down deep in her heart she'll always remember me....
There are days when she gets up ,she doesn't even know her own name....
She yells at me like a stranger....
Maybe if I spent more time with her, I wouldn't be the one to blame....
The doctors say she can't be left alone...there is too much danger.....
Our family is all grown and on their own.....
It's hard to sit beside her while I hold her hand as she asks "who are you?"
Somedays I cry to myself, I feel so all alone....
Tears filled my eyes when she remember who I was even if it's only for a minute or two...
Everyday is something of a new adventure, I talk to her about all the good times we shared...
I think she drifts in and out of reality just by the look in her eyes....
With everything in our lives that we shared until Alzheimers, no one is really ready or prepared....

I think she drifts in and out of reality just by the look in her eyes, you could not have described Alzheimers better and probably brought more understanding to others, devestating for those closely surrounding the person affected by it,don't feel the guilt, I can feel the love in this piece of writing and that is all that counts. |
