An evil glance

Contributed by zeberdee on Thursday, 3rd June 2010 @ 06:28:34 AM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

as I sit back and recall
I think i was building a wall
carrying my narcissism as a charm
guarding me from the harm
creating 2 blank grey windows
where my eyes used to pose
creating despair in my surroundings
with one single glance
creating fear of staring into the abyss
making people flee on angelic wings
of better holiness and arrogance
perhaps seeing their own miss
or of fear of seeing their truth
fly away in search of a safe booth
where they can stand and smile
guarded by their new style
and hiding their impurity
by showing no insecurity
Though deep down still fearing
once my glance slowly is nearing
breaking their facade
making them flee to faith in god
but nietsche was right
so this time they have to fight
and from the field of war
they might come to terms with their core
and see their desillusions
reaching new conclusions:
there is nothing as good or bad
dividing things into this is sad
mocks the intelligence of man
and puts a chain on what we can

I have felt much of what you describe here, if not everything. But I must say that while I once would have agreed with your ending statement, I now believe that rather than dividing, things both are and are not good or bad, as each perspective has its own validity... maybe a tough concept to express.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
