Bright in the Darkness

Contributed by jason_robert_britt on Tuesday, 15th April 2003 @ 11:05:00 AM in AEST
Topic: FriendshipPoetry

I look at you sparkle, a reflection of myself
Look in your eyes that are a mirror to my wealth
The selfish love that comes when raped of all our dreams
Our broken hearts we've double stitched yet only bleed

I know what it's like to see the world through eyes of hate
I know how it feels to hold the key to Hell's main gate
Seems like if I slip then the Abyss will open wide
As if it is my fault for all the souls it holds inside

You're so right in your starkness
All the wrongs that you make right
You're so bright in the darkness
In the darkness you're so bright

We yearn so much for love that we push ourselves aside
We'd give up everything to find the gold that this world hides
We give and give and give they take and take and take and take
One day we will see we are the ones that we forsake

I tied my heart up with a bow to give it to the world
I gave my time, my trust, my pride, the love that I've unfurled
But I see I am selfish cause I do it all to hide
This empty void of feeling churning right behind my eyes

You're so right in your starkness
All the wrongs that you make right
You're so bright in the darkness
In the darkness you're so bright

I look at you sparkle, a reflection of myself
Look in your eyes that are a mirror to my wealth
I cry for you because I'm crying for myself
I'd die for you because you cared about my health

I love you Lindsey Jo
deep down we are the same
Jason Robert

"You're so right in your starkness
All the wrongs that you make right
You're so bright in the darkness
In the darkness you're so bright"

Very moving, for a second I thought you lost your edge, then I read that this is about a friend that could be your good. Ok that's cool, Great write.

i'm pretty stingy when it comes to giving praise, but you are one who always impresses me. this, like everything else of yours' i've read, is ***** flawless.

"But I see I am selfish cause I do it all to hide
This empty void of feeling churning right behind my eyes"

it always sounds cheesy to say, but i completely relate to that line.
