Statuesque

Topic: LovePoetry

Whether or not the time was right
Or the situation appropriate,
I can still say that it was something
Special. You just stood there
For what seemed like an eternity,
Like a timeless statue
Of the most perfect marble,
Looking through me.

It seemed at the time,
That you only knew me
From the clippings of memories
We had collected together, but
As your stony gaze chiseled
A bead from your eyes to mine
I could feel your recognition growing.

Even if telling you I loved you
Was too much for you to hear, I still
Think the moment was sincere enough
To be something more
Than a mere moment
Of artless inspiration.

I looked back at you with an artist's
Eye, full of anticipation, visualizing
Lines yet to be carved, curves not
Yet polished. It made me wonder
If I had the necessary tools
To fashion future moments
With you; I found myself
Imagining you cast in bronze:
Your features resolute, yet still warm.

I wondered if you could have loved me
Back, in that moment, even for a fleeting
Instant; if you could pose long enough
For my eyes to memorize your body & face,
Allowing me to capture them for eternity.

Even though I imagined you repeating
My words back to me, you only looked
At me smiling, as if waiting
For your mouth to catch up
With your mind.

That was good... you have a way with words that puts you high on my list of great poets. A true artist never lets his eyes become as shattered as his heart, he will find beauty in the most darkest of situations. You see quite clearly my friend.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
