Dad

Contributed by deathdrop on Monday, 31st May 2010 @ 07:24:17 PM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

I’ve somehow gotten so low again,
I never want to wake up tomorrow.
I never want to try again.
All I feel now is sorrow.

I want to sleep my world away,
Free from everything that’s been said.
I feel like dad will never let me move on,
And it’s screwing me up in my head.

I want to move forward but I’m always pulled back,
My dreams feel out of reach.
I need to move forward and never look back,
But my past is held against me.

And it doesn’t even matter how far I could go,
Or what I could learn in the process.
It doesn’t even matter how much all this hurts,
Or how it makes me distressed.

Dad always says how proud me he is,
Then pulls me back into bad memories.
The kind that burn with emotional barbed wire,
The kind that instantly break me.

And Richard is always treated above me,
Like what he did just isn’t enough.
Twisting, and snapping me broken.
Life just won’t stop being so tough.

I need to move on from what happened,
But dad makes sure I will not.
Richard is always before me,
i…. am broken and then forgot.

And then praised endlessly,
Like it’ll make up for lost years and pain.
I am told by dad that he loves me,
And then I’m forced back into my stain!

A good write. It is good to write poetry to get things off of your mind. If you ever need someone to talk to I'm here.

this is a genuine well expressed poem,
all that you need to say is said in these lines,
it really helps being able to write like this.
well done.

My dear deathdrop! My wish that is that one day you will truly be able to let go of all the pain you have...
