selfstruggles

Once again, there you are beside me
Like so many other times before
Whispering bitter truths
But truths they are not really
Twisted lies made pretty
I swallow them, foolishly
Sugarcoated pity, satisfying
I take what you hand me
Without thought or hesitation
Wild imagination stretched before me
My insecurities explode
Digging root into my heart
Delicate poison, veining, spreading
Selfish hatred, distorted perspective
Aggravated furry, lip curling disgust
Like a punch in the gut, disoriented
Resentment a facade of fear
Does fear justify, no look in the mirror
This covetous seed spreads wide
Watered and nourished suspicion
Insatiable greed, resounding arrogance
Appetite ambushed, tepid hold
Poignant, dignity ripped bare
Quiet starting, quickly gaining ground
Hatred a snare, insanity in the air
Bruised spirit, ash dusted eyes
Rivalry imagined, projected lies
Rejection a bitter end
Jealousy, Jealousy is my sin

this poem really hits close to home with me, because jelousy has always been a struggle of mine as well, you really describe it with deep meaning very well written. |
