anguished

The cup of my heart is empty; its bottom dry and cracked, any drop of hope is pulled to dust in its immense bareness. It would take a supernatural measure of hope, to fill the vacuum this brittle end consumes. My once eager desires lay waste to the sewerage that has set in. My nostrils burn with the stench of its indignity; I have no more drive, only a pull into the ground, to die and rot in the sewerage I walk in. My soul contaminates everything it connects with. What was once beautiful fades; a distortion takes place before my eyes, it twists and portrays a skewed and gnarled image before me. It is unfamiliar. I am frightened. A shattered remnant screams forth from within, my depths are broken, the pieces reflect my immaturity. Depraved I cannot hide. I see the world and this thing I coexist with takes over and I disappear. A cloak covers my eyes. I am pulled back into a tunnel of darkness. Do I cease to exist? Oh the horror black darkness brings. Spinning, I cannot hold onto this reality. My arm outstretched, I am falling; but I have not hit bottom yet. What sense can I make of this? Can that which was shattered be made whole, smooth and beautiful it will never be again. I am left with its shards, a reflection of myself I do not understand.
