Passing Storm

Topic: Patriotic

Passing Storm

You see them walk out the door
It was only yesterday, they were on all four
Trying your hardest, to keep the rain from falling down
The heavy clouds let go

Our sons and daughters are gone
Your fathers and mothers too
They’ve left you home, safely at home
Try not to cry, everything is going to be alright
It won’t be long before they’re home

All alone, feeling so cold, in a place you call home
Seems like all is in despair
When you can only think about them over there
Someday, the sun’s going to come back
It’s going to shine down, on you and me
When that day comes, we’ll see

The storm has gone, it has passed by, your heart’s feeling high
The grass has dried and all the rain has gone away
You’ve been waiting for this day, to say I love you
To see the one that you love

You’ve waited and waited a while
Your heart’s racing so many miles
No sign of them, the one that you care for
You think this can’t be…
I need you, the one that I love
Where is, the one that I love

this line stands out to me,"All alone, feeling so cold, in a place you call home"... shows me the longing and wishing for that love to return, for the brighter days to return, for life's storm to be past, but has the loved one died? im a little confused on that, gives me something to ponder, thank you for sharing this poem, hugs nessa

i left that part of the poem blurry for a reason... when our soldiers leave for war their loved ones are always wishing them to come home... and when it is time for them to come home and they don't return it leaves the ones at home filled with many questions on what possiblly happened... when you were a little confused with the ending you felt exactly what those who are missing loved ones felt...
