I know there are untravelled pathways that cut through your mind,
And I wish I could walk along them and maybe I could find
A way to bring back your smile, abandoned too long,
Or perhaps I could do it in the words of a song
I will write just for you.
I know there are unpalatable thoughts that rarely see the light of day,
But If I could penetrate the darkness I could sweep all the bad thoughts away,
I would restore to your mind a reason for right over wrong
Or perhaps I could do it in the words of a song
I will write just for you.
I know that you lay there in the deep dark of the night
Praying for sunshine or just a pin prick of light
And as I lay next to you I wish just for a moment to inhabit the world in which you belong
But just for now I'll do it in the words of a song
I will write just for you.
And how I wish you were the person you were before
In the days before darkness blighted your shore,
But I think that together we can right every wrong
And I'll keep on trying with the words of a song
I'll keep on writing just for you.
