Bless this tepid scarecrow. A hummingbird
pilfered with an arrow
through its head had slipped the hands of sky
pirates. It wasn't even magpies--who knows
what populates the skies.
I like a painting of a still meadow, and I like
the jocund crow who takes long looks at
still things, waiting for the seepage
of movement, the weakness.

I always enjoy your poetry. I find it intriguing & moving & this particular one is no exception.
The significance is veiled & the intensity is evident but the overall effect is awe. Well done. elle :) |
