Traffic flows
like blood through a vein
cells of cars and human sparks
pushing and pouring
through rocks and rapids
each to be first
in their early day rush
I watch in slow motion
the heart as it pumps
the river as it flows
I am not amongst them
and if I were, I'd wish that I weren't
yes I am free
but I still long to belong
