In crash the waves
Of our lovely lady sea
Upon the dusty beach
She smashes into me
My lungs become her slaves
I’ll thrust out a hand
Shivering in the cool wind
To touch her icy waters
And in her I might find
Something that we’ve lost on land
To feel her lapping caress
Upon my sticky fingertips
And bathe among the salty foam
Is a joy not found in thighs or hips
Or any expensive ladies dress
Now she is the only one for me
I’ve walked this shore alone
For far too long and now
I’m finally through, I’m done
I’m going closer, deeper into the sea.

ah. this is a nice one and could be interpreted as a poem about death, or union with god - the sea as a symbol of infinity. the end verse reminded me of the final scene from Death in Venice. has a neat rhythmical structure too. golden williams pear duly awarded.
