The lights die down and
inside I scream
I reach for some sort
of sanity
erase the bad things
in my life
forget today
until it dies
scrounge for courage
find some faith
hide emotions
i can't escape
i looked ahead
and saw my fate
a nothing girl
in a blown up world
of high tech losers
and paths that
point toward hate
i saw the anger
and the pain
the children rising
in shameful fame
shouting out that
jusus saves
they blindly follow
all the way
down with equality
down with peace
down with freedom
and down with me
split the soul
in uneven halves
mend it back with fear
afraid is my middle name
adultery is my game
**** the world
all at once cause
this will never end
everything will happen
once again
repetitious and insane
we live then die
and never gain
blackened heart
cold as ice
I see life
passing me by
mocking "na na na na na
you can't get me"
fake it if
you don't feel it
fall into
this mindless trap
hope my lungs won't collapse
hold your head
above the rest
make it through
it's just a test
testing testing 1 2 3
come and join the company
jolting stabs in the back
is something that
we've never lacked
lock the door
I'll hide the key
Now where is all
your **** sympathy

That's life in th 21st century. well described and analysed. I "got off "12 years ago and retired to the country.
Thank you for this excellent poem which makes me realise how fortunate I am |
