To an Angry Young Brother

Please don’t die, far away
In a distant land.
Where you went to kill the man
Who killed you. Please stay.
What if the treasured memories
Of a life shared
Are confronted by the stare
Of a brother dead. Stay, please.
I’d hate the grief and to lament
A brother that did not stay, but went,
And died. How then to show the due
I oft forgot? My love for you.
My hope? That you grow old and wise
When I’m around no more.
Live, and learn to pick your fight
Instead of making war.
