On the high grassy knoll
I lie on this hour,
Freckles of ice
Sprinkle the midnight sky
Warming the summer breeze,
Blanketing the soul.
One is so minuscule,
Only a speck,
A drop in the ocean.
The mind
Expands like the stars,
Our time, just a slice,
A frame in
A galactic motion picture.
In youth
A lifetime is infinity.
Minutes are hours
With age
A lifetime a beautiful sunset,
A mere minute,
That fades before your eyes.
With a sigh, I stand
I descend, morning comes stealin.
Turning, an aspiration
A young man on the grassy knoll.

"With age
A lifetime a beautiful sunset,
A mere minute,
That fades before your eyes."
An absolutely perfect way to describe this
phenomenon. Oh, how desperately sad
it is to find this out only when the sunset
is all but faded. We take our hours for
granted on this earth. But poems like this
remind us, just how brief those hours are.
Beautiful. -- Achelois
