You say I'm cold hearted
But only when betrayed
Feel the sharpness of my cold sword
Cutting through unfazed,
Gotta earn my heart
Then I'll give it all
Won't hold back, invite you in
As far as I can go,
But right now you're pedaling backwards
Reaching for the glaciers
Watch out for any icebergs
Or be another Titanic in the papers,
I've never done you wrong
So why so careless toward me
Is you inner peace so inexistent
To express it so awfully,
So I can't let this pass
Gotta be a fool, to play the fool
As I sit and write these lines
Thinking of my next move,
For life is a chess game
Think ten steps ahead
Make a wrong decision
Regret it 'till the end.

| I liked how the poem slowly moved through time. You started out talking about a past experience and then mentioned "as I sit and write these lines" which is in the present and then your thoughts are ten steps ahead as if thinking and planning for your Future. Interesting approach. |
