My sweet Deborah,
I could have told you
those amber lights
don't mean “go faster”.
When all is lost
for greener pastures,
will you remember
the first sight of Vegas
and the neon lights
“Will Jesus save us?”.
The truck we bought
to fly us faster
just paved the road
to our disaster.
Yes, sweet Deborah,
I should have told you.
Don’t come with me
there’s better deals to make,
go try some demon
who’s not so hard to break.
Yet for the long run
it seemed quite shorter.
I won’t forget
my farmer's daughter
who had the hot gleam
of pure desire.
My sweet Deborah
I burned your fire.
