Cloisters

The cloisters of my heart.
You stroll around and then depart.
I’m left again, to fell the pain
of knowing it can’t last.
An empty heart.
The thinning lights of day,
almost lead, then lose the way.
A soul endures and then it mourns
all that’s lost and all that couldn’t stay.
An empty heart.
The cloisters of my heart.
I stroll around in midnight dark.
No light to guide, nothing inside
but echoes that sound stark.
This empty heart.
