My Shame and Pain
Dark clouds gather at the edge of my consciousness
Whilst forks of lightning flash across my mind.
The weight of depression refuses to rise
And lays heavy in myriad, confusing layers;
Compressing, crushing my reason and thoughts.
To make so many bad choices and judgements,
To charge out of anger when logic should dictate;
Forces a man to take stock and understand,
Or try to comprehend what forces rage to rise,
When humility and humbleness should lead the way.
I have made so many mistakes but just wish,
That the burden of this illness would take away the pain.
Make me normal, reasonable and human again.

Heartfelt and painful - I'm sure - for you.
By the grace of God I don't suffer depression, but
I do, however, relate to much of what you write.
