SPRING

I peeped throu’ the window a few days back,
The deep woods over there, presented a gloomy picture.
The tall trees, shedding leaves, exposed their skeletal frame,
The woods looked as if the Nature had fallen into slumber.
A few days later when I gazed again hopefully,
Pleasantly surprised I was to see a dramatic change.
Tender leaves sprouted, like newly born baby’s grin,
The woods displayed a touch of green here and there.
As more days pass by, to my great excitement,
The Nature awakens and with her magic wand,
Turns the woods into vivid green; overshadowing trunks grey,
A picturesque sight for the eyes of Wordsworth to rhyme.
The yellow Dandelion flowers popping up on meadows,
Seem to warmly welcome the refreshing spring.
Flowers blooming in varied and vibrant colours,
Captivate me with unbounded joy and peace.
Small animals are enthused by the changing scenario;
Come out of their burrows to move freely around;
An opportune time for some to start building their nets.
A squirrel running briskly on the top of the fence
Stops suddenly, rising its head, watches cautiously,
To make sure it is safe to continue its unscheduled journey.
A sparrow squeezes into the small hole of the wooden box,
Pegged to the corner tree of the garden,
To dutifully feed the young ones inside.
And birds of varied size and shade frequent the garden,
Hopping here and there to pick their prey carefully.
Now the spring has come to every one’s delight,
Leaving the dreadful and barren winter far behind.
