Critics

What times we live in my dears,
Times of liberty and freedom of speech,
The ability to express our innermost feelings and desires.
Not so my fellow poets, for we are under threat.
No longer is the pen mightier than the sword,
The sabres of censorship are now being wielded.
As one great sage said, those who can’t, teach,
And in much the same way we are now monitored
By those who perhaps are unable to express themselves
But who sit in judgement as critics of our work.
Whilst we toil blood, sweat and tears tirelessly,
To provide visions of beauty and love,
Tales of tragedy and sorrow, inspiration and triumph;
All in the name of our beloved literature;
Some of our labours will never be seen by our peers
As we are censored by those sipping cappuccinos,
Safe in their self-inflated super-egotistical smugness.
So beware fellow poets, be wary and very afraid,
And for those who read this and feel the slightest shame or guilt
Then all I can say is that literature is anathema to you all.

this is true and it is sad that this happens. At times I wish I could go back to a time were our art work was better understood and apretiated. But alast I can't. Wich is also sad.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
