Drowning in the Desert

The desert rises high.
I can’t see past the sand.
I can’t hear past the waves.
Will I drown in the fear?
If I fall, will you hear?
Kill my insides, turn them red.
Stop the pain, I want to be dead.
The dunes encompass my visage.
The openness shrinks into nothing.
The dirt fills my soul.
I want to take control.
