I tried to stay so calm,
while staring out the glass.
The smell of his new car.
setteled on my touge, gagging me.
The tension was thick as mud.
It weighed on my chest like sand bags.
Without warning it petrified me
and I was a quadrapedic.
I turned towards him
just to see if I could move.
His glossy blue eyes caught mine.
He knew I could see through them like glass.
Behind them there was nothing,
there never was.
His white asbestos beard crackled coldy
as he forced a smile
By obligation i returned the favor.
Words never spoken have now left so much said.
Always my father but never a dad.
Soon this ride would be over.
Soon i would be free.

A very haunting write.... It leaves so much to the imagination.
Was this a journey to end in your deaths... or a farewell rollercoaster ride of father and child never to meet again?
Vivid imagery here, well penned.

This poem is really good. Kept me guessing who the man was until the end. Great poem. |
