Once upon a time,
I could climb a tree,
Run across the miles,
Fly –as a bird free.
Had I many friends,
Play ,make merry,
Laugh,chat,roam,
Youthfulness,always in a hurry.
Never had I thought,
My meerymaking days would end,
In hand of powerful fate,
Would I have to bend.
Soon was I confined indoors,
Paralysed and disabled,
A puppet in the hands of fate,
My strings were handled.
Life is different now,
Living for oneself,aloof,
With least care of the formalities,
Ones own self to prove.
Little joys to enjoy and embrace,
The sunshine,drops of rain,
The tiny goals to achieve,
Not bothering for little pain.
The time spent reading,
The achievements are big,
Value of life understood,
The importance of things humble as a fig.
