Wishing On Stars

Contributed by Nevilleconnie on Sunday, 25th April 2010 @ 06:44:32 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

Emptiness, so cruel and vast.
It sucks me in each night.
How long will this feeling last?
How long until there’s light?

I gaze at stars, and wish on some,
In hopes my wish comes true.
They never do, not even one.
I’m wishing still, for you.

It’s you I want, it’s you I need.
And still your unaware.
I wonder if you’ll ever see,
I wonder if you’ll care.

I wish that I could know for sure,
If you might feel the same.
I wish I knew what lies in store,
I wish and sometimes pray.

Nothing ever seems to work.
My dreams have turned to doubts.
Every night my eye’s still hurt,
While all my tears come out.

They say the sun can truly blind.
To me the stars are worse.
Every wish I’ve made in life,
They seem to not be heard.

Maybe I’m just wasting time,
And wishes don’t come true.
Even though, I can’t deny,
I wish, still now, for you.

Wishing upon stars can be such a hopeful exercise.
There is a gorgeous longing, however painful, trapped
inside these lines. Devastatingly beautiful.

Great write! -- Achelois
