Preston Street

Contributed by Debris on Sunday, 25th April 2010 @ 01:33:15 PM in AEST
Topic: LoveRemembered

The pigeons on Preston street peck for a living.
They live off the remains of what others have given
And I saw you there
a scarf that I bought covered your hair
I watched as you waited for word of arrival,
a new consignment
your base for survival
And you were so thin, withered within.
I’m withered without

The pigeons on Preston street fly from sill to sill
Automatic, devoid of all will.
Like you, and your new routine
A slave to the brown,
A slave to the green.
I watch from safety, sheltered by winter
I can tell that your broken, your heart like a splinter
But I cannot intervene
Not just to be kind,
Not just to be mean.

What a great write full of tenderness and care of mind. Standing back not to make things worse can sometimes be the better option although it can be very difficult. Great write

wow. This was spellbinding. I couldn't single out any
one word or line as it, in its entirety, is just so complete.
The way you captured the pain and sorrow in this is gripping.

Excellent post! -- Achelois
