The Smell of Rain

Contributed by Breezy on Sunday, 25th April 2010 @ 11:16:39 AM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

Bathed in the clean, damp coolness of air
The senses reap inheritance of ancient skies
Like ripened fruit trees that will soon be bare
Embracing deeply the sky’s drenched stare
It soaks into ravines along endless cries
And there inside the mornings break
While sheets of leaves and birds awake
Travelers pilot roads soaked with innocence
Its wave refreshingly takes wing and flies
Unique in its grace like a snowfall’s flake
And save for misty droplets, all sound dies

Breathe deep, the raw uncaptured mist
Where waiting, lies a paradise found
Loss of sky, the sun has kissed
And starlight shine, once upon was wished
Trapped now within the soft, moist ground
Fills up the sense with heavy, wet air
There is a longing that stands naked and bare
Just within the smell of the lingering fresh
Oh, to dwell inside this forever!
Drenched from fragrance sent of heaven
Senses to the edge are driven
Longing just to stay for moments bent
Drowning within the covering of laundered scent
While the wind takes every care
Lying to the sun the spell is cast
Wanting only this moment to last
In the sultry Sunday morning air
The mind whips internal of all things sane
Gripped inside the smell of rain

Such a beautiful capture of peace and life. There is a gorgeous tranquility that lies deep in your words that calms the eyes when reading this passage. The rain breathes life and i adore it so leaving me revel in this fantastic piece of writing hoping for its next fall. Stunning write.

Hi,

So descriptively precise in its rendering that I
could feel it, taste it, smell it!

Wonderful.

Jesus! Your account page makes me weep...Both at the awe and beauty in your writes, and from feeling like a joke of a writer when I read your incredible work. It is so easy to hear your lovely poems being read out loud, to eager ears in a crowd. Love it.
