cold feet (a ghost story)

Dark
Warm
then nightmares are born
Awake now,
tossing and turning
the clock it ticks on, and your mind is churning
Eyes shut
Tense
something catches your sense
Pain, like your toes in a vice
It sits on your bed
looks at you once with blind eyes in its head
You cry out in fear
the fear strikes your gut
as it gently returns, to feast on your foot

I've never really studied poetry either, but I believe that like any artform it comes from a belief that it should be what you wish it to be.
You've created an interesting piece, which you should be glad you wrote as we are glad to read.
Keep feeling that creative flow.
