pestilence. . .

I claw my way to the top of the illium,
expressionless moth-balls along the way.
I am overwhelmed by the staleness of my own breath
to which I've attached zombie-like words
that steal my fleshy thoughts, plump with passion,
lusting after niceties. . . those pearls. . .
The ones that I'd forsaken in lue of the hole
where your belly-button used to be,
admonishing the rain
that fills you up
& hides my tears, as well.

I don't think there is a more descriptive or emotionally
driven poet. You write with such gripping imagery and
flawless metaphors. Impeccable work. Truly a joy to read.
