Grief

Here we stand, the whole world at our fingertips.
Laughter and excitement culminates through our bodies,
we are lifted into the unknown.
We smile in anticipation of all the adventures that lay in from of us.
All of the emotions, love and possibilities.
Our hearts sing with a joy spanning the entire universe.
Nothing can ever come between this experience...
A pocket in time.
Alas, as we age our confidence wanes,
Our convictions crack -- and we become desolate.
Our eyes fill with crocodile tears and,
our faith and wonderment of the world somehow unhinges from our senses.
Our greatest memories are those now married to overwhelming feelings of loss.
We are forced to split our souls between the hopes and passions we still cling to,
and the steady pounding of ignorance, war and hate.
If you don't spin around quickly enough and filter your visions,
you end up turning your back upon yourself.
I am now locked outside of my own heart,
Wailing in pain and spinning the dial on a code I know I cannot crack alone.
I beg the wind to send me the soft whispers of those I love.
"Re-invent this hard exterior that I must shed!"
I am reminded of the innocence I once felt...
I was illuminated in the face of God,
Trying to find my way on an unlit path.
The Darkness could not reach me, nor resonate in my soul.
I was pure.
Now, I only pray that God is still near.
Soon I will witness myself foreclose upon these looming shadows of doubt,
and unravel a portion of the well knit mysteries that consistently weave strength.
Until then, I shall remain strung out - alone all along.
Where are you Daddy?

Beautiful heartfelt write bringing the harshness of reality to the fore and all the insecurities that can harbour, The comfort and reassurance that we then search for that we used to have from those who we have loved and are not with us now |
