Such small a group to see this one, that served someone so well,
how can they know, for nothing shows and none will ever tell.
For long has been a mystery to them but, most to me
to last so long and be so strong tho' it was not set free
It wasn't 'cause it wanted more or settled for so much less
for love is what this one long yearned or needed so, I guess.
Please pity not, what you will hear but, learn from the mistakes
that one so blindly, in darkness trod and the toll that it all takes.
For it was once so strong and pure it beat and lived for only one
all through the night, from dawn's dim light to the setting of the sun.
To justify, to one's demise twas not for me to chose
but then one day, was stole away and soon would live for two.
And live it did and served so well, the two that it lived for,
til that sad day, one slipped away, not wanting anymore.
This void was much too hard to take, to one who thought would last
for now it's purpose to, live for two .... it's time, it seemed had past
It still did live from day to day .... confused and not so brave
'cause what was gone, lost to the wind, it still did deeply crave.
For one so strong that lived for two, lost will, to live for one
each day it lost a beat or so til now it lives for none.
Why is, we ask, can one soon die, so soon to be no more
what drives a heart to beat for two, and left so broke and tore?
All present said "it looked so well".... laid there with not a mark
they could not see, laid deep inside, the scars were not so stark.
So now lay rest, this one that died, that used to live for two
it soon gave way, to slow decay, as broken hearts often do.
I still don't see, what caused to be, these two who chose to part
somber peace and quiet rest, interred within, a funeral for a heart.

It soon gave way to slow decay as broken hearts often do........trying to live without that which the heart yearns for, living alone, not able to fill the void, with scars that are not obvious to many other than as the heart fails the flame of the soul diminishes, pain and sadness expressed so well in a beautiful write |
