* Song of the Morning *

Contributed by venkat on Thursday, 15th April 2010 @ 07:26:31 AM in AEST
Topic: anguished

I woke up like a flower in the morning
Walked along a street cozily chewing
A piece of thought like a sweet grape
Resembling the nipple of goddess Dawn!
~*~
With bubbling enthusiasm to make a poem
I washed with soap and polished my similes
Metaphors, hyperboles and other tools of art
And then laid them out on the table.
They looked like nymphs that came out
Freshly from the pools of my prehistoric blood.
Bunches of flowers and grapes were swinging
In the breezes of my wild fancy, in my throat!
~*~
When blood leaping with love of my beloved
Was blooming beautiful springs in my mind,
All of a sudden the fire from the hearth appeared
In my room and burnt down all my poetic wares.
The song which bathed in sorrow was still wet
With tears, as all the aspired words were lost!

~*~

I like this. It reminds of Rumi's work.

I must be honest as I am not quite sure what this is about but if it is about losing your muse, that is something you haven't done (you have not lost your muse). Excellent imagery. Beauty and horror intertwined with excellence.

Thanks

Tim

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
