Cotton Skies ( a rewrite)

Contributed by iodinelove on Sunday, 11th April 2010 @ 10:55:56 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

Upon finding your still form in the vague and blurry shadows of an early morning, my heart cried out for you, the broad, sparkling rivers of your hair scattered across white and silver skies.

In my heart, you are a lilting laughter swept with tears, your fingers dancing softly near, in my heart you are an insurmountable mountain, the endless reach of a desert and her canyons.

My soul is broken at every morning my eyes open to find new light, at every word spoken of your absence, at every wound untended by your touch.

It was not in form, figure, or frame that held my love for you. It is not in the stone that binds you to your place that my love endures over the centuries, but in the memory of a single surging kiss riding over the midnight sky—your fingers closed forever beneath a cotton sky—your fingers closed forever, the clarity and mist, beneath a morning sky.

Very evocative read. Particularly liked "My soul is broken at every morning my eyes open to find new light,at every word spoken of your absence, at every wound untended by your touch".
Wonderful read, thank you, Aliopterix.

Hi Abraham,

How beautiful & forlorn. . . how evocative & tender the symbolism. It's always a pleasure to read your work.

elle :)

I found this poem overflowing with the ache of missing ones absent lover. Truly a beautifully well written piece; indeed, the imagery was astounding. Thank you for putting to paper the pain of lost love in a way that is not only relatable, but honest as well.
