Soft and sweet was Adeline
In the realm that lay between
The mortal day and affair
And death's plutonian lair
What she said then did out pour
Into my soul evermore
And I recall all to this day
The most beautiful words she could ever say
Soft and sweet was Adeline
My nearest dearest Adeline
In her arm's soft embrace
And in time's slowing pace
So this night went unending
And our souls still transcending
Until the first morning beam
And I awoke from my dream
The sweet nepenthe of my dream
