Disagreement Within

Why must we always sit here in the dark?

Because it’s a boundary but why should you ask?

Always at night I do as you tell me.

You talk too much; just sit and let me be

Why do you hate me, despise me so much?

Because you’re the doer, the invalid’s crutch.

I’ve never achieved what was expected of me.

That’s why I hate you, you just cannot see

I tried to do well but nothing fell right.

That’s down to me, I distorted your sight.

Why would you hurt me and let me feel pain?

Because it’s the path to feel sane once again.

There’s never a day when I don’t feel the loss.

Our parents, sister, you still bear their cross.

We should have done more and helped in some way.

We did all we could at the end of the day.

I never cried you know when father died.

To do so would be as if you had lied.

I let them all down with this terrible life,
No children, no house, not even a wife.

Why do you always put your life on trial,
You DO have a life, you’re just in denial.

I can’t talk to you more because you don’t hear

It’s you who won’t listen because of your fear.

I hate myself and all that I’ve ever done

So you tell me now you’ve never had fun?

But what of the expectations we had?

We’re healthy and living and still you’re sad

I know it’s irrational but I just can’t let go

And that’s why recovery comes ever so slow.

I hate you too you know, you’re always right.

You know that that’s wrong; it’s just that we fight.

The sun was now rising and the room filled with light.
He drew back the drapes and let in the day.
The other had melted away with the night
His constant other self who never went away.
He dressed and decided what he would say
At therapy which he attended that day?

Magnificently crafted and very telling, very personal. How confusing and conflicted, to be in two minds and to find a place to hide blame away or to, in good faith, find the cause of it all.

Keep the process going. The best thing is to be honest with yourself and to maintain a balance between selves until/unless you realize one is more "right" than the other. Good luck, keep healing. Thanks for sharing.

Ahh! The constant and extremely passionate wrestle that you have with yourself seems so necessary at this stage.....

"The sun was now rising and the room filled with light.
He drew back the drapes and let in the day"

....... This is GOOD!!! You are starting to let people in.... I admire your spirit, it's essential for your progression x

Now go write some more!!!
