The hoots and hollers drew me near.
I heard the cracking and crunching
of the jagged white gravel beneath my feet
as the splat of my snow cone
smacked into mush before my eyes.
I quickly moved on as the sifting of brickdust beneath
my siblings' shiny new cleats were abruptly interrupted
by the clanging of metal v.s. plastic.
My fresh, tiny ears heard the sphere whistle
while it cut through the breezy summer air
as if it were whispering a melody to me alone.
Forgetting the world, my mind went silent.
What is this place? What is it saying?
I listened, and heard nothing
but the vision of future sounds before me.
This place is my home. It wants me to stay.
